| Salisbury Museum – Complete network installation
Working on a sub-contract basis we won the contract to install the cabling and active networking equipment for a complete new computer network for Salisbury Museum. Being a listed building the remit was to install a network with the least disruption to the building infrastructure. An initial survey for wireless coverage was carried out. This indicated that the nature of the walls and floors, coupled with the distances to be covered, ruled out wireless networking. A Cat.5e solution was proposed and accepted, although the routing of the cables was very complex due to the many different levels encountered throughout the building. We spent considerable time ensuring that the installation was carried out without disruption to either the running of the museum, or the building infrastructure. |
| Internet Terminals – Installations for a high street fast food chain
Again working on a sub-contract basis, we have carried out the installation of a number of Internet cafe configurations for a well known fast food chain. The installations, all being in public areas, have to be installed with no visible cabling. Each Store consists of a number of internet kiosks which have to be physically mounted in position, and cabled back to a mangers office via condiut, mini trunking, roof voids etc. An ADSL router is then installed, the systems brought into service and tested. In many cases we have also installed addition mains power outlets to accommodate the kiosk power requirements. |
| Lucent Technologies – Data Centre & Comms room cabling
Having planned a complete upgrade of their UK LANs, Lucent Technologies UK had a need to re-arrange the cabling systems within one of their main UK data centres, as well as all the comms rooms at their main office locations in Swindon. The remit was to re-arrange both fibre and copper cabling in order accomodate the new LAN equipment. We carried out an audit of the existing connectivity to identify what could be removed, what could be repositioned, and what additions would be required. In addition to the cabling we carried out the installation of additional cable containment (Cablofil basket tray). The total re-arrangement project was completed with no down time for the customer. |
| St Marys School Tetbury - Wireless network installation
We have just won a contract to install a network of 18 wireless access points around the school for curriculum purposes. Competing with 3 other companies, we were chosen due to the detail and professional quality of our proposal. Now in the planning stage, we’re liaising with the various support organisations involved in school networks, to ensure that all installation methods and equipment configurations are agreed prior to the commencement of installation. |
| Envelope - Office cabling system upgrade and wireless installation.
Due to an expansion the company needed to move into another floor of the building they were occupying. Additionally they were having a new PABX system installed which needed an upgrade of the existing cabling infrastructure. A project to cable the additional floor, and trace out & re-terminate the existing cables into a new data cabinet was completed over a weekend. Also a number of Wireless access points were installed. The existing network was dismantled, the cabling installation completed, the network equipment re-installed in the new cabinet and patched in to the desks. We worked closely with the PABX installers on the Sunday to ensure that all the new phones could be patched into the correct locations. During the re-configuration, some temporary connections were put in place to ensure that a small number of people who were in over the weekend had no loss of connectivity to the servers or the internet. We were on site on the Monday morning to resolve any outstanding connectivity issues. No problems were reported. |
